The job seeker's journey

The job seeker's journey

When you are faced with the necessity of making a decision that will shape the first features of your professional path, there will be many factors that affect you as a job seeker or even as a new employee, positively or negatively, such as financial return, margins of development, the extent of comfort within the work environment, and what falls under that in terms of humanitarian dealings or facilities. Tangible materialism that makes the individual feel his value.

But the question is: What about the impact of others’ experiences here? What about their stories and tales that we hear from time to time? To what extent do the dictates and perceptions of others affect us? Especially those perceptions that are built in such a way that we do not have any effective means that lead us to verify their safety and validity.

The truth is that today, in most of our life’s dealings, we follow what the market dictates to us. Even our tastes are guided by a popular advertisement for the best films that can be watched for the current year, or a list of best-selling books promoted by publishing houses, or an influencer’s recommendations for the best restaurants, dishes, and other products, to the point You lose your right to feel the amazement of new experiences.

There is no doubt that this is a phenomenon that has been clearly enhanced by technology. What was once just a marginal advertisement in an old paper newspaper that you may receive or miss, now appears on your small screen in different seductive ways and methods, at any time and from any place.

But what does all of this have to do with the job seeker or new employee? The truth is that people with practical experience practice the same thing, intentionally or unintentionally. One person talks about his position or academic specialization, as if someone who does not belong to his class should not delay writing his “professional” will, and another does not leave a crooked word in the language dictionary without using it to describe it. The work environment, colleagues, the manager, and even inanimate objects were not spared from this, and this is a fact that is not an exaggeration or pure imagination. Fortune magazine has previously pointed this out, as it stated in an article that deals with the strangest reasons that prompted individuals to leave their jobs that there are those who submitted their resignation only because “color He did not like the wall” and another did the same because “the carpet in his work is disgusting according to his point of view.”

All of this, unfortunately, leaves an impression, albeit indirectly, on the job seeker. He has a preconceived notion that can be true or false, so he hesitates a lot in making his decisions and becomes unjustified. The new employee also has less enthusiasm and more doubts...or otherwise they may have a rosy, empty picture. Then they are surprised by a reality other than what was in their imagination.

This makes us wonder: What would it be like if the individual was left to go through his professional adventures on his own?

Yes, there will continue to be a permanent and essential need to take advice from professional specialists, whose role is essentially to direct and advise, and this is undoubtedly an integrated institutional work that has its own people. The problem comes in who plays this role and is not qualified for it.

So don't believe anything, always check for yourself and create your own experience away from any influence. Accept the idea that there are some negatives, which no work environment is devoid of, but do not exaggerate issues, and do not treat people from the perspective of others. At the same time, remember that you are performing a job in which you are supposed to know your responsibilities, rights, and duties in advance, because this is exactly where everything starts. .
